Foundations of Musculoskeletal Screening, Assessment and Exercise Therapy.

This course is designed to provide kinesiologists, physiotherapists, chiropractors, athletic therapists, osteopaths or students in those fields, with the essential information required to perform a subjective and objective assessment, and determine the appropriate exercises to rehabilitate, manage or enhance a client’s movement and function after and MSK injury. This course is for professionals or students aspiring to work in a MSK clinical practice, multidisciplinary setting, or independently with clients privately or through an exercise facility.

Educational Learning Outcomes:

  1. Understand key concepts in musculoskeletal health, including common conditions, pain mechanisms, and models of care.
  2. Differentiate between assessment and screening processes to identify risk factors and guide clinical decision-making.
  3. Gather and interpret client history to inform a comprehensive assessment.
  4. Apply objective assessment tools to evaluate functional movement, posture, and range of motion.
  5. Develop client-centered treatment plans with realistic short- and long-term goals based on assessment findings.
  6. Recognize psychosocial barriers to recovery and integrate strategies to address them in care plans.
  7. Implement evidence-based interventions such as education, exercise, and symptom management.
  8. Adapt exercises appropriately to the phase of recovery and individual client needs.
  9. Evaluate treatment outcomes using validated measures and adjust plans to optimize recovery.
  10. Enhance professional skills in clinical note-taking, informed consent, and effective communication with clients.
