Module 1: Treatment of Lumbar spine and Pelvis
Day One
- Introduction of concepts : chiropractic and osteopathic philosophy
- Advanced understanding of lumbar spine and pelvic anatomy and biomechanics
- Including study of relevant visceral anatomy and influence on mechanics
- Introduction to neurological implications on low back function and dysfunction – this section will introduce the practitioner to the role of CNS and PNS function on muscle tone and the effects on spinal function and back pain/pathologies. In this module, mainly function of lumbosacral plexus will be considered. More advanced modules will delve deeper into these concepts and investigate the vestibular system, central sensorimotor system and brainstem.
- Introduction to advanced palpation skills to assess lumbar spine, sacral and innominate function
- Introduction to basic visceral palpation in lower abdominal quadrants
Day Two
- Review of current literature on normal and pathological mechanics of the lumbar spine and pelvis
- Review of literature and discussion of pathologies
- Manual skills (osteopathic and chiropractic techniques) to normalize lumbar spine, sacral and innominate function – for a true chiropractic group this will include review of concepts in adjusting and introduction to different adjusting strategies, as well as non-HVLA techniques (if non-chiropractors are present there will be no HVLA approaches considered)
- Manual skills to normalize hip and symphysis pubis
- Introduction to advanced manual therapy skills to correct muscular, fascial and visceral tissues
- Closing ceremonies

- Review and deepen knowledge and understanding of lumbar spine and pelvis biomechanics
- Review and deepen knowledge and understanding of lumbar spine and pelvis neurology
- Attendees will learn techniques to assess and correct:
-Lumbar vertebrae (including HVLA and non-HVLA techniques)
-Sacrum
-Iliac
-Thoracolumbar junction
-Psoas, iliacus, quadratus lumborum
-Diaphragm
-Hip joint
-Symphysis pubis

Emmanuel Frantzis, DC, DO(MP)

Emmanuel Frantzis is a chiropractor and manual osteopathic practitioner. Educated at the Canadian Memorial Chiropractic College and Canadian College of Osteopathy (CCO), he integrates a unique combination of chiropractic, osteopathy, advanced exercise and nutritional approaches.
Dr. Frantzis has worked in private practice since 2001 and was a teacher of Osteopathy at CCO from 2008-2015. In addition, he has served as National Team Therapist for Beach Volleyball Canada (1997-2008) accompanying the team to two Olympic Games (Sydney 2000, and Athens 2004). Dr. Frantzis has published and spoken internationally in the areas of Osteopathic medicine and nutrition.
