Description:

This 6-hour continuing education session provides chiropractors with a practical approach to the diagnostic imaging evaluation of traumatic injuries to the upper and lower extremities. Through a combination of focused didactic instruction, real-world case presentations, and interactive learning activities, participants will refine their ability to interpret radiographs, recognize clinically significant trauma patterns, and determine when advanced imaging is indicated.

Learning Objectives:

  1. Apply recognized imaging appropriateness criteria to determine when radiographs or advanced imaging are indicated for extremity trauma.
  2. Analyze upper and lower extremity radiographs to identify fractures, dislocations, avulsion injuries, and trauma-related osseous changes.
  3. Evaluate the necessity of CT, MRI, or ultrasound based on mechanism of injury, clinical presentation, and suspected pathology.
  4. Differentiate imaging findings that represent red flags, unstable injuries, or conditions requiring immediate referral or co-management.
  5. Integrate diagnostic imaging interpretations with history, examination findings, and documentation to support safe, effective chiropractic care.
