This 6-hour continuing education session provides chiropractors with a practical approach to the diagnostic imaging evaluation of traumatic injuries to the upper and lower extremities. Through a combination of focused didactic instruction, real-world case presentations, and interactive learning activities, participants will refine their ability to interpret radiographs, recognize clinically significant trauma patterns, and determine when advanced imaging is indicated.
Learning Objectives:
- Apply recognized imaging appropriateness criteria to determine when radiographs or advanced imaging are indicated for extremity trauma.
- Analyze upper and lower extremity radiographs to identify fractures, dislocations, avulsion injuries, and trauma-related osseous changes.
- Evaluate the necessity of CT, MRI, or ultrasound based on mechanism of injury, clinical presentation, and suspected pathology.
- Differentiate imaging findings that represent red flags, unstable injuries, or conditions requiring immediate referral or co-management.
- Integrate diagnostic imaging interpretations with history, examination findings, and documentation to support safe, effective chiropractic care.
